Energy, Water, and Sustainability Program Internship

The Energy, Water, and Sustainability program at Stimson offers internships throughout the year, with some flexibility regarding exact start and end dates. The program addresses important and timely policy issues concerning energy, water, and sustainable development in the Global South from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Currently the Energy, Water, & Sustainability program is active on two main issue areas: (1) Clean Energy Diplomacy, looking at examples of lessons-learned from countries that have had breakthrough developments in renewable energy and opportunities to share these lessons with other countries in the Global South; and (2) the Basin Connect program, which identifies sustainable water and energy development trajectories for transboundary river basins. The pilot project ' Mekong Basin Connect 'identifies alternatives to the business-as-usual plans for hydropower and coal development in mainland Southeast Asia and builds local capacity to implement sustainable energy solutions.

The Energy, Water, & Sustainability internship offers a unique opportunity to build upon and apply educational and other experience by carrying out research and participating in the development of practical approaches to important policy issues. The program director Brian Eyler seeks applicants who have a strong interest in sustainable development, political economy, and developing countries and the desire to learn more and develop policy analysis skills.  Interns are a vital part of the program and will work closely with the director and the research analyst as well as their peers and staff in other programs, participate in a variety of Stimson events, and benefit from the experience of working in Stimson's collegial environment.
