Stimson, a nonpartisan public policy institute committed to finding and promoting practical and innovative solutions to national and international security challenges, seeks an energetic and focused individual.

Internships are volunteer experiences only. All internships are unpaid.

The Non-Profit Development & Administration Intern will gain experience with nonprofit fundraising, donor and board stewardship, grants management, and communications, as well as an opportunity to interact with all of Stimson's programs. Applicants should have an interest in foreign policy issues and should be highly motivated and sincere in their desire for an internship that is challenging and professional in nature.

Responsibilities include:

         -Supporting the creation of development materials and messaging including content for brochures, newsletters, website, etc.

         -Researching prospective funding sources including government, foundations, corporations, and individual donors

         -Supporting development program initiatives such as year-end appeals, planned giving and crowdfunding campaigns, and annual reports

         -Assisting with management of donor and grants database

         -Supporting stewardship of donors and Stimson's Board of Directors

         -Managing the proposal and reporting timeline

         -Providing administrative support, as needed; these duties may include event support and file management

Qualified candidates will demonstrate exceptional writing skills, consistent attention to detail, and a strong sense of self-motivation. 

Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week. Preference may be given to those available 30+ hours per week for a minimum of 15 weeks. Please submit your resume, cover letter, and writing sample as a PDF.
