PRC Foreign Policy Internship

Stimson's China Program PRC Foreign Policy research closely examines the strategic thinking and practices of the People's Republic of China (PRC) toward the region and the world. Key issues include the making and evolution of Chinese foreign policy; U.S.-China relations; and China's policy toward the Korean Peninsula, Japan, and Southeast Asian nations. The PRC Foreign Policy staff conduct research for publications as well as hold public seminars to discuss timely topics.

 

Responsibilities for the PRC Foreign Policy program intern include:

  • Complete high quality research and editing tasks for program staff
  • Write reports on seminars
  • Assist in the coordination of program events
  • Track developments regarding Chinese foreign relations, especially U.S.-China relations, maritime disputes, and the interactions between China and regional players

 

Generally, a strong candidate for this position will have:

  • A strong interest in Chinese foreign policy and East Asian security/political issues
  • An academic background in China studies
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality work in both research and administrative tasks
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
  • A record of academic excellence
  • Chinese language skills preferred and recommended, but not required

 

Although a successful candidate often is in an M.A. program, undergraduates are also encouraged to apply.
